Prabhas, whose full name is Prabhas Raju Uppalapati, is an Indian actor who primarily works in Telugu cinema. He was born on October 23, 1979, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Prabhas gained worldwide recognition and became a superstar with his portrayal of the character Baahubali in the epic film franchise "Baahubali: The Beginning" (2015) and "Baahubali: The Conclusion" (2017), directed by S.S. Rajamouli. These films became the highest-grossing Indian films of all time and brought Prabhas immense popularity.
Before Baahubali, Prabhas acted in several Telugu films and established himself as a prominent actor in the Telugu film industry. Some of his notable pre-Baahubali movies include "Varsham" (2004), "Chatrapathi" (2005), "Darling" (2010), and "Mirchi" (2013), among others.
Prabhas is known for his dedication and commitment to his roles. He often undergoes physical transformations to portray his characters convincingly. For the role of Baahubali, he gained significant muscle mass and trained extensively to perform the action sequences.
After the success of Baahubali, Prabhas gained a massive fan following not only in South India but also across the country and globally. He became one of the most sought-after actors in the Indian film industry. In 2019, he appeared in the action thriller film "Saaho," which was released in multiple languages and performed well at the box office.
As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Prabhas has several upcoming projects, including the film "Radhe Shyam" opposite Pooja Hegde, which is a romantic drama set in Europe. He is also set to appear in "Adipurush," a mythological epic based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, where he will portray the role of Lord Rama. Additionally, Prabhas has been signed for a sci-fi thriller film directed by Nag Ashwin, in which he will share the screen with Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.
